My Conclusion

Conclusion

In the process of organizing this art exhibition and works of art to be displayed by the various artists I have learned a few things. First thing that I learned is that there is so much beautiful artwork that is was tough to chose exactly what my favorites were as I liked almost all the works I looked at. Secondly I noticed that many of these works fit my theme and so I had to narrow my selection based on being able to find the required criteria in the projects directions. The art selection came naturally as my theme " The Great Outdoors " encompasses a vast number of art works and artists. There were so many other works I would have chosen to include but only had ten spots in the gallery.I faced a few challenges however when putting this project together as it wasn't completely smooth sailing all the way through which is to be expected. First of all we weren't allowed to use any of the art work or artists from our book. Many of my favorite works of all-time were by famous artists that were included in the book. Secondly on some of the lesser know artists it was hard to find all the information required in the project outline. For instance you might find a bio on the artist but nothing mentioned that was usable on the background or statement portion required. In some cases I really had to research for quite awhile and in some cases even excluded my choice and select another due to lack of information. Overall though I loved being a curator and I think I did a good job of selecting art that supported my theme and that not only I enjoyed but most people would enjoy as well. I discovered that many of the artists started at a young age in their crafts. Many of these artists are also considered masters of their perspective media or niche. For example Ansel Adams in the media of black and white photograph or David Mann was a master of motorcycle artwork and also a master of his niche.

Thanks for a great class. I had fun and really enjoyed expanding my knowledge of the art world even though this probably didn't even scratch the surface of what there is to know about art. I will never look at art the same way.
