David "Dave" Mann (September 10, 1940 – September 11, 2004) was a California graphic artist whose paintings celebrated biker culture, and choppers. Called "the biker world's artist-in-residence, “ his images are ubiquitous in biker clubhouses and garages, on motorcycle gas tanks, tattoos, and on t-shirts and other memorabilia associated with biker culture.

•
Statement: “This is the most important motorcycle painting ever created. It
defines who David Mann is, with a theme persistent throughout his career. The
"ghost" rider and today’s biker would obviously have been the other
in their respective era”. – Fine Art

•Background Information on the art: The painting was first created as the cover for the biker magazine “Easy Rider” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Mann_%28painter%29)
•Theme Connection: Nothing is finer than riding down an open stretch of road while enjoying the “great outdoors” i.e. the sun on your back, the wind in your hair, bugs in your teeth, with the feeling of freedom. I chose those to incorporate this painting into the gallery as I have been riding motorcycles for many years and love this leisure activity as do so many other people. This art is iconic for those who love motorcycles and the outdoors.
